Women of Significance in our world 🌎 today.

Hello dear reader,

Whoop whoop. I’m super duper excited because today is International Women’s Day 💃💃💃💃. Do not forget to remind the women around you how strong and inspiring they’ve been.

In honour of International Women’s day, I’ll be sharing significant women who have made great impacts in the world.

1. Mother Teresa (1910-1997):

Mother Teresa was known to be kind-hearted and today we use the idiom ‘as kind as Mother Teresa’ when describing a kindhearted person. Mother Teresa was a Reverend sister and a missionary who devoted her entire life to serving the poorest of the poor. Her mission had over 4,000 sisters in over 123 countries and they served in over 610 missions most especially in India. Something striking about Mother Teresa was her act of selflessness towards the poor.

In her lifetime she helped evacuate 37 children during the siege of Beirut, she took care of homeless children and the sick. She was a humanitarian to the core and till today her legacy hasn’t died.

2. Malala Yousafzai (1997- to date):

Popularly known as Malala, she is a Pakistani advocate for female child education especially in her native home ‘Swat Valley’ where the local Taliban at her time banned the female child education. On the 9th of October 2012 when she was just 15 years, while on a bus after taking her exams, she, alongside two other girls were shot by Taliban gunmen in an assassination attempt in retaliation for her activism; and the gunman fled the scene. Yousafzai was hit in the head with a bullet and remained unconscious and in critical condition for months.

Following her recovery, she continued being a prominent activist for female children education and now she co-founds the Malala fund organizations which are a non-profit organisation aimed at advocating for education. Malala is a strong woman who had and who still continues to fight for the education of female children in the world and in the middle East most especially and she has won various awards for this great act.

3. Chimamanda Adichie (1977- to date):

She is every Nigerian Patriarchal person’s biggest night mere. She’s definitely one of the most popular erudite feminists in Nigeria. She’s an amazing writer and author who has received numerous awards for her amazing books. She has published various amazing works which outwardly condemns the patriarchal system against women in books like ‘Purple Hibiscus ‘ and ‘Why we should all be feminist’. I have always seen her as an Icon who has laid the standard for feminism in Nigeria. If you are feminist then she’s surely our President 🤚🤚.

Her aura is super beautifully amazing plus she never stops embracing the Nigerian culture.

4. Oprah Winfrey (1954- to date):

She is one of the greatest black women in history today. One unfortunate incidence during Oprah’s childhood was her being raped, getting pregnant and losing the child at birth. I can imagine the pain she went through growing up. Despite this sad experience, she rose beyond it and has ever been succeeding. She owns one of the biggest TV networks today and she is equally an author.

Of course, she’s a feminist who keeps inspiring women all over the world. She’s a philanthropist who donates her money to children and women all over the world. Please love me some Oprah ❤️ because she is a role model for women today.

5. Coco Chanel (1883- 1971): Her story is inspiring. Her real name is Gabrielle Bonheur Chanel. She lost her mother at a pretty young age and her dad took her and her sisters to a convent orphanage home where the nuns taught her how to sew.

She created the first female suit and pants during her time, who at the end turned out as a serial entrepreneur and with her business alone she provided job opportunities for multiple people.

During world war II, she had to close down her shop which led to the unemployment of over 4,000 people, and this shows how successful she was.

She was described as a Lion because of her outrageously outspoken personality. She was seen as an unconventional wild woman that never stopped creating or thinking outside the box. She created the first female pants( trouser)and female suits. Her perfume to date women posts is one of the best selling fragrances in the world.

Guess what she used to be? She was a singer, meaning she was a jack of all trade who dipped her feet at different waters, ensuring she succeeded till the very end.

6. Rihanna (1988- to date):

She’s a musician, an actress and now an Entrepreneur who owns the popular Fenty beauty cosmetic. She’s seen to be relentless and she’s super great at what she does.

From what I have noticed, she literally gives in her all into her art and trade. Her music has always been a hit back to back, and now her cosmetic line is doing super great in the makeup industry. She’s badass in summary and she has proved that women can be whatever they choose to be and still succeed at it.

7.Sarah James Robert (1988 – to date:

She is the daughter of the popular Christian preacher, T.D Jakes. She is a great woman doing great things for the Gospel. One striking event about her journey had to be her getting divorced and the great part is that she didn’t dwell on it as a setback, neither did she stop doing great things for the Gospel.

Now she’s happily married and she is one of the greatest female preachers we have today. Of course, she keeps making headways for the Gospel till today.

8. You (From the day you were born till you die):

Yes, you! The world is waiting for you to create value for it because you are capable of doing great things, you are bold, you are strong and you are a woman.

Take a look at everyone on the list, their success and achievements were not tied down to only marriage or to motherhood. I’m not downplaying the impacts of marriage and parenthood but success does not start or end there alone.

As Women, our gender is powerful, and we were created not just as properties or liabilities.

We would create value in our world today because we are value itself.

I hope you enjoyed this post.
